Hi all!

Work and life getting in the way this year has slowed down my output somewhat :)

However personal projects help to keep the juices flowing and over the last 6 months I've been pecking away at this kit.

Our very own Pedro aka pmfs gifted me this kit a while back with some Kirin heads and a set of Verlinden collar tabs and shoulder bars!! Thanks again Pedro!

I've re-cut all the seams, undercuts and sharpened all the creases, replaced buttons with discs of plasticard and used a mix of Lionroar and Verlinden for the badges and tabs etc.
I used a set of Dragon headphones from the spares box and added the spare head from Alpines 16006 Panzer Crew with the deaths head removed and a diamond of tape in its place for national markings. I also used a bit of liquid filler to alter the eagle on the cap to the Heer version ( not the SS as sculpted )..

Anyway I thought it might be fun to show you this as a one off!

Nice work Mark.
The head change really lifts the kit.
Looking forward to the next steps.
I wish you a happy new year in 2013.
All the very best,
Keith

Hi Mark,

very nice conversion work, I'm sure you'll also do some fine paintwork on this guy.

One remark : why the Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen (General Assault badge) on the lower left breast, this was mostly issued to service branches like Artillery and Pioniere (engineers) ? Panzer had their own specific assault badge.
Unless you want to do this as a Sturmgeschutz or Marder or Hetzer crew member in field grey version of the panzer uniform? Sturmartillerie and Panzerjäger also were issued the general assault badge.

cheers and good luck with this one,

Johan

Hello Mark, I also have this kit, and know how much work you did to get it to look this great, being as the figure comes in two halves. Good luck with its progress. Regards, SG(y)

Pekka ... Many thanks :)

Keith .... Cheers and Happy New Year! :)

Johan ... Thank you! and man you have sharp eyes! He is indeed based on an illustration in Vanguard 12, plate H3 Oberleutnant, Army Panzerjager unit, Holland, 1944 but he has elements of H1 too :) So yes he will be in FieldGrey :)

Mark ... Thank you! :)

Carl ... Cheers :)

SG. .... Thanks again :)

And happy new year everyone :)

It´s good to see this one started Mark.:joyful:
Following.
Happy new year!

Pedro

Nice start Mark, good to see you bringing quality to some of these plastic injection kits, I remember from the past you seem to transform them into very nice figures, will be watching (y)

Hi Mark,
Hope you had a great Christmas and Santa bought you heaps of figures to paint for the new year.
I'll be following this closely as I have stripped the paint off my one and have a new head for him also, another the full head from the Mg42 gunner, with a cap from Dragon,I'm wanting to paint him as a HJ tanker.
One of my NY resolutions is to post figures I've been very slack.

Chris

Marc ... Thank you! :)

Johan ... ;) And thanks for the link! I'm an ex armor modeler and I am a big fan of the Panzerjagers :)

Steve .... Thanks mate :) Yeah I do like mucking about with these :) I supose because I can't sculpt for toffee LOL

Chris! ... All the best mate! Ah we need to see more of your work! It's so nice! Post more! :) LOL

Anyhoo I've been mucking about with this fellow, some of the folds around the left pants pocket look a bit odd to my eye now theres paint on them!
However this was about enhancing the injection plastic piece not a major conversion so it will be staying :)

Great progress Mark.
Good depth of colour with the greys and leather belt effects are superb.
Nice to see what can be achieved with a base Tamiya kit.
Best regards,
Keith
