There is a U.K. based reenactment group doing the 33rd foot. Some nice photographs on their website showing their take on the drummers uniform. I’m about to start a 75mm drummer of the regiment from the Waterloo period and will probably follow their uniform as it seems plausible and is the regulation of the day.

My take is that either is plausible!. With or without chevrons on the arms. I suspect that there is absolutely no concrete evidence one way or the other. The picture shows, I think, the regulation uniform. But as we all know, drummers were often provided with more elaborate lacing. Short of a description by a witness who was at Waterloo, or a drawing by a witness at the time or a surviving coat…we will never know.

Hi folks

Interesting comments ref the drummer lace

Out of interest I contact the reenactment Regt of the 33rd , this was their very quick reply

"To be honest we will never really know for the 33rd as there is no existing jacket left our jackets are very speculative

I think they should go up "
