Dragon Armor 1/72 Scale Tiger I 222 Late Production s. SS Pz. Abt. 101 "Villers Bocage 13 June 1944"
The Tiger I “Villers Bocage” 1/72 scale model late production Tiger I is the third in the “Tiger Ace” series released by Dragon Armor and Cyber Hobby. Unlike the standard Dragon Armor models, the Cyber Hobby pieces are professionally presented as collectors’ items, complete with a special tin and interior protective foam padding. Not surprisingly, these Tigers are among the most sought after scale models of their type.Released in 2004 and out of producción.
Like the other 1/72 models this “Villers Bocage” Tiger I is attached with two small screws to a black plastic stand, which sits inside the nice little presentation tin which slips into an attractive presentation sleeve. Painted in the adapted three-colour summer camouflage of dark yellow, dark green and red-brown this die-cast metal and plastic vehicle also comes with a carefully detailed Zimmerit finish.
The finely-detailed front and rear of the hull carry the crossed keys emblem of the I. Panzer Corps, and the fully rotatable turret is adorned with the number “222” in red with white outline – the vehicle from the 2nd Platoon of the 101st SS Panzer Abteilung assigned to SS-Unterscharführer Kurt Sowa which would be commandeered by Michael Wittmann on 13th June 1944 for his famous charge down the RN175 into Villers Bocage.
As with all of the Dragon Armor 1/72 pieces, this metal and plastic die-cast model has an extremely high level of accuracy for a piece of its size.
As a special collectors’ item only five-hundred “Villers Bocage” Tiger 1s were produced, and each item comes with a special credit-card sized certification card. The item in my collection is numbered 162
