Geoff Charman
A Fixture
I have had my eye on this bust for some time, and was hoping Steve was going to take it to Bugle, but sadly he didn't so as I had some budget I got it from SK Miniatures a couple of weeks ago.
.
It is a super bust, nicely sculpted by Matt Springer and comes in two resin pieces, body and head as one and the busby, then two small white-metal pieces of the Pour le Merite (Blue Max) combined with the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross for around the neck and the oval Field Badge for the top front of the busby.
I started as usual painting the face using oil based Artist's oils after painting the eyes in Vallejo Acrylics and giving them a good coat of acrylic gloss varnish so if I do get any Artist's oils over them I can just use a white spirit dampened brush to remove it without removing the eye paint.
Uniform comes next used equal parts of Vallejo German Field Grey and Stone Grey to give the light look uniform. then using German Grey I base coated the remaining lacing, epaulettes and orders
The lacings, etc was then given a coat of Gunmetal and then AK True Metal Silver to highlight.
The Order of the Black Eagle was given some detailing and the Neck Orders, which I painted off the bust and the Busby Field Badge which was CA'ed i place after the Busby was painted.
Busby paint using Armour Brown and dry-brushed with New Wood, Skull painted in AK True Metal silver, Chin Strap painted in New Wood for the leather part and bronze as a base for the metal scales then AK True Metal Brass applied.
The finished bust, really pleased with the end result.
