1 last kilt question

OK, I now know to paint my highlander's kilt in the government sett but when that's done, what's a good color to use to glaze/wash it to give it that faded slightly used look? I've read that the base color is a good choice to do this but I'm not sure if blue would work here.

I would try a VERY thin wash of a neutral grey

Sounds about right. I figured gray or some shade of light brown. It's going to be a tricky operation considering how much work painting the kilt will be. Thanks for the help.
