Hello gentlemen,

here is what i'm currently working on : the viking axeman from DG Artwork, 75mm scale.

I've added some leather straps to the lower legs and scribbed the lacking details on the shield. the hand armor of the shield has been resculpted in milliput.
I started the painting today, all acrylics over a chaos black primer and highlighting airbrushed.
but 'nough words : here are where i am currently, all your comments (good or bad) are welcome :)

Hi Franck

WELCOME to PF great to see you WIP's especially as I have just reviewed this!!!

Like the additions to the legs and the details on the shield they look really good

Nice work on the face and the beard has a nice paint up

Thanks for sharing

Nap

PS..Why not enter FOTM (figure of the month ) comp ..great prize every month !

Franck looks like your off the a great start, I always liked this figure despite the criticisms regarding the Viking leaping of the Figure head, thinking that it may be possible to drop the figure down so that he is coming off the edge of the longboat so that the pose would be more likely, are you sticking to the original design or doing away with the section of boat, looking at the pictures in Nap's review I think that the side of the boat would need to be extended to take the figure at the lower level.
I haven't bought this yet but will make up my mind once I see how you and others progress.

Gents, thank you very much for your kind words.

Terry : i have to say that i will go for a totally different solution : the drakkar head will be used as an element of a future vignette.
for my axeman : he will probably jump over the shield wall but ... but i still have a lot to think in order to depict this :nailbiting: ...
he may end jumping from a rock :)

Hi Franck I think a lot of modellers will do away with the boat on this one, unfortunately I really liked the section of boat and its what drew me to the figure but carry on and get him finished you have certainly given him some very nice detailing.

hello :)
here are the actual progresses on the Axeman ... I want him as dark as possible trying to depict various leathers (not the cloak obviously !)
as usual i'm open to all comments good or bad

Hi gents, here are my humble progresses on this great figure. I'm pretty proud of the mask as this is the very first time i'm able to use effectively the NMM painting.
but i was too shyto try myself on the helmet and chainmail ;)
as usual all your comments are more than welcome, good or bad !

Coming on nicely, I must say I have never looked into or tried NMM so I just keep on experimenting with metallic paints in search of the formula that works for me, however the results that you have here look like metal so well done.

Hello friends,

here are my progresses on my Axeman, as you can see i have changed the provided base for a "shields wall". At first i thought of painting those shields with various colors but i'm afraid it would distract the eye from the figure ... what do you think ?

I still have to work some little details and make some touc-ups but i think i'm nearing the end of this project.

as usual all your comments bad or good are more than welcome !
