I enjoy figures from all periods but ww2 holds a particular interest to me, this is a fantastic S&T kit which allows the beginner a great opportunity to paint peas pattern SS camo, i have ordered the S&T Luftwaffe feild div figure for a beginers reveiw !

I wish somebody would release a knock out a red army ww2 figure in 90 - 120mm (berlin street fighter or scout as in the film Zvezda, such a rich history to base the composition on ............... if only i had the skill, more british figures would be great too.......

Figure is in acrylics

Hi Kirky,

I've an example of this figure too, boxed away in my 'cupboard of excellent sculpture'. If I remember correctly this was sculpted by Christoph Bail. Well done Chris!

So, who's gonna bring out a 1/16th kit of an M8 armoured car to go with it?

For anyone that doesn't know, this sculpt is a very, very accurate rendition taken from a photographic sequence taken near the crossroads at Poteau in 1944. To see the full sequence see 'Battle of the bulge then and now' by Jean Paul Pallaud.

Cheers,
Jon.

Thanks for comments gents

Dear all, thank you for your kind comments about my figure, i enjoyed this peice because of the sense of movement and because of the challenge with painting peas pattern (my eyes have only just recovered !!!) the face is expressive and looks realistically apprehensive, the comments on the historical perspective from Jon are very interesting, sounds like the making of a good vignette (if only companion figures were availiable) ps your cupboard of good sculpting sounds interesting

i welcome any feedback on any of my peices because it is only after six yrs that i feel i am even reasonably competant, and this forum seems like a great place to learn and get advice - over the years i have prob spent a lot of money learning the hard way :), was fun though,

About to start JMDs 60mm british ww1 tommy , using the calvin tan technique, very worried as this is a great detailed piece - hope i do it justice !!! will post a thread - tahnks again for all your replies

Kirky,

I like what you've done here, but I'd like to offer a bit of constructive criticism. The eyes seem "off" to me because the figures head is turned completely to his left but the eyes are going to the right. In my opinion, it would look much better (and more natural) if his eyes were also to the left. Again, it's just my opinion and intended as constructive criticism.

Hi jason thanks for taking the time to give me some critique, i guess i wanted to represent his eyes and eventually the rest of his head turning into his direction of travel to meet a suprise threat as this piece conveys a real sense of urgency and movement i may pair him up with the S&T ss ardennes grenadier at some oint in time , good point though, i shall stare at him today and come to a decision...............

Best Regards

Kirky
