The first of my Christmas presents to be completed. 120mm 'Polish Lancer' by SolModels of Korea. It's a pretty dire kit - the uniform and horse harness needed serious attention from a sharp knife and a motor tool as it's partly modelled on a general officers uniform with additional lace and two epaulettes (the left one I remodelled as a contre-epaulette, the right one should have been done as well and the aiguilette moved to the left but I know I'd have totally scr**ed the whole thing up and bottled that part). As only the front rank carried the lance, others being armed with a carbine, modelling options are limited. Especially so as the regiment was reduced to just one squadron that accompanied Napoleon to Elba, and the formed the nucleus of the 2nd 'Dutch' or 'Red' Lancers so dissapeared before the Waterloo campaign.
All paints are oil over acrylic, apart from the metalics and the matt white parts.

Nice work Dave. If you got this at Christmas you must of been a busy painter this past week. Whats next on your work bench?

Yow did a nice job, you are almost as fast as my friend Guy, I thought he had the fastest brush in the West

Cheers
Roc :)

You must have worked on it 24 hours a day! A mounted figure that size would take me about 2 months. Anyway, I am soon to start the Andrea version. I'll let you know how long that takes ;)

Thanks for the compliments. I actually started this after Christmas lunch - just cleaning up the parts. It doesn't take me long once I get going! Thinned oils over acrylics don't take long to dry, and I broke it down into sub-assemblies so I could actually get quite a lot done at a time.
Next up - 54mm Pegasso 'Holy Land Knight' in acrylics, well under way.

Hi Dave,

I too recently purchased this figure off E Bay and was very disappointed with the quality and finish :(
As you have mentioned there are a number of inaccuracies with the uniform but I also found that the quality of the cast was poor with lots of air bubbles and the fit of the parts leaves a lot to be desired and will certainly require a fair ammount of milliput. For this reason it has been put away in the bottom of my model cupboard.
I am glad to see you have overcome the problems with yours and produced a cracking piece :)
I will get around to doing mine but I have a couple of figs purchased from Euro Militaire as well as those that the big man in the red suit brought me that take priority.

Steve
