Hi.

This is my take on the above Moz Corry figure.

My 3rd completed figure, I feel I'm starting to get the hang of it now, or at least I'm begining to see "some" improvement.

Painted in Vallejo and W&N Oils. Duck boards are made from Tongue Depressors (from work, Shh ;) ).

I appologise for the crap photo's, I'm back on shift tomorrow, so couldn't get any in natural light until the weekend, and frankly I couldn't wait that long. :)

Hope you like.

Thanks Thomas.

Yes, my 3rd. :) Still learning, but improving I feel, albeit slowly.

Getting some good tips and inspiration from PF members along the way. (y)

I realize that you're name isn't part of your "member"
indication. And that is fine. I just wanted to chime in here
and repeat something that most all of us know. "We do learn by
doing". You're off to a good start. . . Just keep at it. Most important
discoveries, that you make will be from trying it again, and again.
Remember this is a hobby, and it is supposed to be fun. Don't get down
or discouraged, and I realize that is possible ( I've been there myself)
from looking at some of the work of the real masters on this site.
The idea is to enjoy the journey. . . it isn't the destination. . .
it is the journey. Indeed. . . . . :)

Wishing you well, kind sir,

The Miami Jayhawk

Looking great.
I'd get some Tamiya X21 flat base, add a touch to the reds and blues it will get them dead flat.
No wonder the NHS is on its knees, staff having bits away.;)
Looks like you enjoyed it,
Carl.(y)

Nice job, I have been at this for 40 years and am still learning. PF is an inspiration and have guided me to being a better figure painter. Its all about progression.

Hi pte1643
I hope those ducks boards are painted and that effect has not come straight out of someone's mouth!

They do look really nicely weathered. You certainly are heading in the right direction(y). I would maybe just put a couple of thin diluted black washes over the helmet to tone it down, get in some contrast and lift the detail.
Post some more photo's in natural light for us all to see.

Very wise words from the Kansas Kid, we all need to remember those points from time to time. Keep up the good work.
cheers
Richie

Great work. For your third figure it's a very impressive effort.

The key to progression and getting satisfaction from our hobby is to ask questions, experiment and be prepared for failures and learn from those failures.

PF is full of helpful fellow figurists who are willing to share tips and information and encourage newbies.

Cheers guys.

Really appreciate the comments.

Colin: "Steal" stirring sticks? No-one said anything about stealing... I'm taking them back after I've finished with them... Quick rinse off and they'll be good to go. :D

Richie: No, they were new ones, not straight from a pt's mouth... At least I don't think they were. I did add a little weak Black wash around the helmet detail, but looks like I could get away with a little more, perhaps it was a little too weak.

Thanks again, I don't know if I want to go back to aircraft now, I'm enjoying this figure malarkey too much.
