This is the next in the series of figures kindly donated by Henk. It's Verlinden's 120mm figure of a British Infantryman, based on these well known images:

He was photographed in 1944, though for the most part he's wearing a 1937 pattern uniform and webbing. I believe the gas mask bag is a 1944 MKII, exactly the same as I used for my packed lunch as a kid - happy memories.

As usual, I ditched the kit head, which was pretty poor, and opted for one of Steve R's newer offerings. I couldn't save the camo-netted helmet, so went for a plain one instead. The only thing that needs adding is the regimental shoulder patches which are on order as decals from Peddinghaus.

Hi Peter

Yet again your painting really brings out the verlnden figures ......another nice choice of replacement head

Great colour on the webbing

What's the shoulder patches of ?

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Another beauty Peter. I like the shovel, it is an often repeated mistake (including by me...) to make the metal to shiney.

Many thanks Nap.

The division patch is for the 3rd Infantry Division, but I've just realised it should be a red triangle on a black background - will adjust in due course.

Excellent paitjob. It brings an old piece to the new millenium.

Oda.

Morning Peter

On a roll with the figures, and a great reference for the sculpt.

Super contrast with the limited palette and lovely drapery too.

His Sargent-Major will be giving him hell over the state of his shovel! LOL

Heat wave over

Have fun with your next victim

Regards

Morning Steve

I'm very much enjoying working on these old Verlinden figures, though I only have one more to do from the batch Henk sent to me. He's just used his shovel in a training exercise so the RSM will give him some leeway, as long as it shines when he gets back to barracks.

Cooler today, but still nice and sunny.
