A few weeks ago, I was very generously sent some Verlinden figures by Henk, which he'd bought pre-painted from eBay. I've started stripping them down, and this is the first one that I've re-painted, a British RM Commando with a captured German pistol.

I ditched the kit head and used one by Reedees, to which I added a Milliput beret, and also used a Sten by Amati which I had in the spares box.

I really enjoyed doing this one. A very big thankyou to Henk for hours of fun - more in the series on the way........

Youz are more than welcome Peter. You knocked this one out of the park for starters, nice work on the beret. Swapping the heads on many of the Verlinden figures makes a big difference. Ive decided on using Reedees heads on my conversion of the Verlinden Arnhem'44 set.
Looking very much forward to see the next one.

Steve - Thank you. Painting wet-on-wet means working fast.

Henk - Thank you again. Steve has added some fine new sculpts to his range of Reedees heads. I'll definitely be using more.

Mike - Glad you like him. Thanks.

Mobo - Many thanks also.

Mike - Ditto. Thanks for looking in.

Morning Peter

Back to the figures and a good one too.

You must be Reedee's best customer for heads?

And new heads to choose from too, all the better.

Nice putty work with the beret too.

You always make the best of the limited palette with WWII figures.

Have fun with your next dip and strip victim

Regards

Steve H

Hi Peter

Again you resurrect a figure , did you add the leather pistol holster , sorry don't know the figure ! ......limited palette and you have really cracked this

The beret looks good both in shaping and colour , like the addition of the stem

Well done to Henk for sending the figures .....says a lot about this forum and the hobby

Look forward to the next

Happy benchtime

Steve - Morning, I had a series of failures with the busts I was working on so I decided to go back to figures. I think Marcus (Diorama Art) has used far more Reedees heads than I have, but I'm catching up. The limited palette is a challenge, but at least there are no reds and yellows to worry about. Possibly a B of B pilot next, though it is a dodgy sculpt.

Nap - Yes indeed, Henk's gift reflects the incredible generosity of spirit I've met with on PF. The German pistol was part of the kit, and I assume was included in the original source image, though I haven't manage to find that - he's obviously finding it much more useful than his Webley. There was also a Sten gun with the original kit, though that was missing, hence the spare.

I always thought this was one of the most boring figures in the Verlinden 1/16 range, but your tweaks and painting skills have transformed it into a real gem.

Steve R - Glad you like it and thanks for the head.

Steve B - Very hard to make British uniforms look interesting for sure. Many thanks.

Spot on painting as usual Peter - I always liked this Verlinden figure, even though the head sculpt was not one of the best. But with the Reedee’s head it’s been transformed to a different level, & the beret is excellent both in sculpting & the colour you mixed for it.

Marcin - Very many thanks.

Chris - They are unusual figures, but it is mainly the heads that let them down. I'm working on their Battle of Britain pilot at the moment and it's the same story - slightly odd body sculpt made worse by an awful head - Reedees once more to the rescue. The beret was pretty easy to do, just a lump of putty bent to one side and painted with Vallejo Deep Green. Glad you like how he's turned out.
