Hi everybody,
I´m trying to do some research for my current project, a 75mm Chasseur from Pegaso and since I want to paint him with the 14éme Regiment colors, I try to find some more info. I got a plate of one Chef d`Escadron of 14éme Regiment, kindly given from the sculptor of the figure M. Bruno and I did some research already on Austerlitz and Jena battles. It seems though that the 14éme Regiment saw no action in those two battles. Could anyone help me find out some more info about this formation, where saw some action, where was stationed in 1806? Any help is welcomed, even just a book reference........

Thanks in advance.......

Anastasios,
In 1806 the 14th Regiment de Chasseurs a Cheval were stationed in Naples.
6 March 1806 skirmish Naples, 1 wounded.
2 July skirmish Calabria 1 wounded

I'll try and get back to you with details of the above actions I just need to find the right book.

Roger.

Hallo Anostosios,
The 14th "Chasseurs de Ligne" was formed in 1793 from four squadrons of the Hussards des Alpes, one company of the Hussards de l'Egalité, and a Company of the Hussards de la Mort.
1805 with the Armée d'Italie, fight at Caldiero et Vicence
1806 Army of Naples, Gaeta
1807 Army of the North, fights at Stralsund
1809 Germany, fights at Ratisbonne,Echkmuhl,Essling and Wagram (this is probably the most important campaign)
1812-13 Army of Portugal , fights at Nava del Rey, Los Arapiles, Monasterio,Villodrigo and Vitoria.
1813 Campaign of Saxony, is at Dresden, Leipzig, Hanau
1813-14 Siege of Belfort
1814 Campaign of France, Saint Dizier, Brienne, Bar sur Seine, Champaubert, Montmirail
1815 disbanded
Do you need anything more?
Regards

Thanks Roger and Marcellin,
that was some help, at least I know where the 14th was stationed at the time. From the plate that M.Bruno sent to me I got Raveneu as Chef d´Escadron of one 14th Regiment squadrons and I just wanted to be sure of the enviroment I´m going to show the figure. I will try some research on Eckmuhl or Wagram, maybe Raveneu was present there and I´ll make a "after battle" base setting.

Thanks a lot gentlemen once more.........

Further information, Anostosios,
If you use the "Chef d'escadron" 75mm by Pegaso, as I think, the dolman and the shako dressed by the figure of Maurizio were used until 1805 circa. After this year, the most used dress became the "surtout", and in the 1808 the single brested "habit à la kinski" began to appear commonly. All this with some exceptions, obviously, not all regiments left the dolman at the same time.
However, I suggest you to date your officer not later than 1805.

Thanks Marcellin for the extra info,
very usefull indeed and rather important too!! I think I will stay with the plate of Raveneu and just show him at a "peacefull" scenery, maybe an indoor too. I´ll keep your advice and stay in this time of 1805-1806. Thanks for the help once again!

Anostosios,
A simple question...Why do you not paint your officer with the colours of one of the regiments present at Austerlitz, as the 1st (chef d'escadron Vigée) 2(only 59 men commanded by a captain, not chef d'escadron),
5(Mayor Corbineau, the second of three brothers; it has 4 gallons as the Pegaso figure, you must paint them alternative silver and gold), 11(chef d'escadron Bevières), 13, 16, 21, 22, 26, for example (For these I have not the names of Chef d'escadron)?
So, you have the right uniform...

Hi Marcellin,
I like a lot the Austerlitz option and most of all the Major Corbineu of the 5th. Do you have any more info about the uniform of the 5th? Any plate maybe or a drawing of an officer of them? I got the "Austerlitz 1805" from Osprey but not a single picture of someone from the 5th in there. I would be very oblidged if you could help on this and I got to say that your help was invaluable already!! Thanks!

Anastasios.

Hallo Anostosios,
If you send me a private mail, I'll reply with the informations I can find about Mayor Corbineau.
As general notice, I can tell you that the 5th Rgt of Chasseurs had the distinctive colour yellow "jonquille", that's a pale yellow, but in this case the colour it's almost invisible, because the collar was green, piped yellow, and the cuffs, that were pale yellow, here are hidden by the gloves. The breeches are green as the dolman, the red breeches are inusual for the chasseurs of line, probably were a particular distinction of the Revenue's regiment, or dressed for a particular occasion, I don't know the source used by Maurizio.
In the same regiment, there were also the older brother of Mayor Corbineau, that was the Colonel commander of the regiment, and the younger brother, a simple lieutenant at that time. All in family ;)

Hi again Marcellin,
the Chasseur shown on the boxart is given as one of the 12th Regiment. But I would like not to paint the figure all the same again so I look for alternatives. The Raveneu theme is given in the closed in instructions and M.Bruno kindly given me a color plate of Raveneu as drawn by Rousselot. This plate can be seen in VBench section of Bruno under "Light Cavalryman".
My mail is [email protected] and if you got any color plate or painting that is even close to Major Corbineau at the time, it will be very helpfull, I´m rather pictorial type of painter and not really good at Napoleonic terms.

Thanks again Marcellin..........

......Anastasios......

Hi Anostosios,
I'll send you some pics on your mail box. Referring to the Pegaso Officer, I have another image of a "chef de brigade" of the same 12th regiment, and he has the deep red breeches (the french colour "cramoisi", that was the distinctive for the regiment), then I suppose that this colour breeches was a feature of the 12th regiment, expecially for high officers perhaps, because other officers of lower grade have the more usual green.
