My latest project is done !

It was a pleasure to paint this figure! I hope you have just as much fun watching!

Excellent work Hendryk! I have one question for the uniform pundits though: I know this figure is based on a painting by De Neuville who had first hand experience of the subject, but I can't find any picture of the sapper insignia he painted ie crossed spade and axe, the only insignia I have seen in musea are the crossed axes. Can some learned member shed some light on this minor point please? It doesn't detract in any way on Hendryk's work ofcourse!
cheers,
Piet

Thanks a lot Guys - nice to hear that !

Piet - interesting question - i doesn´t found a pic from Chasseurs, but one from a Sappeur same Time - look !

This is a tremendous job on a classic figure. It's one of my favorites; so much so that I painted it myself - twice! Didn't like the look of my paint after a few years so I stripped it and repainted. I may have to redo mine again after seeing your version though!

Thanks guys - that is very nice !

Piet - on the pic you can see the Axesymbol on the left, so i think the spade is on the right site !

After some browsing through my library I found that the crossed spade and axe were pecular to the chasseur sappers, all other infantry units having the crossed axes badge. I should have looked more carefully in the first place instead of bothering you with my questions, sorry guys!
