I'm back into painting figures after 30 odd years , I'm starting with one of my favourites which is Grieves 100mm Classic 1750 Fusilier.
I've misplaced the painting instructions and also cannot seem to find any relevant information for colours for this period of Fusiliers. I've got the Osprey book ...........somewhere ! By the time I find it it will be Xmas.
Can anyone give me a link to some info or better, images of the finished painted figure ? There's one on the Grieves site but small and fuzzy. I can't seem to find anything much online. Thanx in advance.

The following painting by David Morier is a good starting point. It was painted from life about 1751. I’ll see if I can find any details of the lace etc. a little later.

Many thanx NRG ...I do have this painting and more but they are all different to the figures details. Not one piece of info I have tallies with the Grieves figure particularly with cuff and pocket detail. I'm surprised I've got no help apart from you as this must be a very popular figure . But thanx for being the only help so far.

I think what you may have is a figure from the Grenadier Company 1st Foot Guards 1751. Apologies if I'm wrong.

Geoff

It is it is it is !!!! Thanx so much Geoff....I just today found the box and yes it's as you say.
when I inputted the detail Fusilier came up ...how did that happen ??.
No wonder I've been getting no where fast !!!
thanx for your time and info .

The attached might be of use. They are from the 1742 warrants, which provide the lace details, and the 1751 warrant which only gives the facing colours. I doubt the lacing would have changed. I hope they are useful.
Regards
Chris

Chrisr and Nap .....many thanx for taking the time to send me this info ....from being frustrated (it helps to know what figure your painting !) to having all the info I need and more and great info too. It sure is a great figure as are all the Grieves classics 100 but today I received my very first 3D 150mm figure and and I have to say, the detail and build is something unimaginable back in the 70's. All I can think is how stunning it's going to look when completed. Regards to all thanks for your input.

Just out of curiosity, what was the 150mm printed figure you bought?

It was the Forge of History Medievel French Knight ver 1 150mm ....since then I've ordered other resin things from Ali Express which have a decent range and excellent prices. They haven't arrived yet .

Happy to be able to assist Bluebottle. I see the figure is 2nd Foot Guards (Coldstream) so Nap's photos are the ones to follow. The attached pages have some information on them but not the detailed design of the lace.
Regards
Chris

Perhaps you could post a review on PF of that 150mm knight as a separate thread……….. I know that I for one to like to see some pictures and to hear your thoughts.

Bluebottle….a word of caution about buying resin figures from Ali Express. They are usually recasts, so not only is any purchaser depriving the original manufacturer of much needed revenue but the quality is also very poor. As a new member I suggest that you read the thread on Recasts.
looking forward to seeing pictures of that knight!
