Here is the painted and finished US Marine from the 1898 Spanish American war during the fight for "Getmo". It is a 1/16Th sculpt using sprue as the primary medium for the figure, the base is from an old makeup jar of my wife, I made a mold of the Marine corps eagle globe and ancore and cast it to add to the base. The figure is painted in oils with baby powder added to the paint to make it flat and speed the drying.

Thanks for looking if you have any comments they are welcomed.

Thanks Ken, another great thing about baby powder and oils is it gives you the blending ablities of oils and the drying time of about 24hrs as opposed to weeks with regular oils.

First - great subject matter! I am a fan of the SPANAM war, Boxer Rebel, and the Banana wars. I'm in the process of working on a diorama in 54mm of a small portion of Kettle Hill. I wish there were more figures available for these periods... I like the figure and paint work, but the shiny base bothers me. It takes away from the figure and just seems out of place. Now that's just my 2¢ worth, and I'm a newbie to the hobby after a looooong hiatus, but thanks for posting.

Thanks for the thoughts, I'm incline to agree with you on the base. I think it would have been better with some ground work. Next time no short cuts.
