Hi. Welcome to planet figure. I see that I am the first to comment here and I'm surprised as your work is very good for a first timer. I've been painting for a good many years and I would be happy to paint the standard you have shown here. Very nice precise painting, good eyes, good colouring. Just keep on practicing and I'm sure you will get even better. I hope that others look at your work and comment too. There is a real wealth of experience on this site with some great painters. Thanks for posting and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Hi there anstontyke,

Firstly welcome to PF and congratulations on your painting , a very good first bust .

I see you use Acrylcs , do you use a retarder to give you the blending time , I use Winsor and Newton Blending medium , but Vallejo also do their own.

Do ask anything someone will always be able to help

Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing more

Hi Nap, thanks for the comments. i dont use a retarder, just straight paint, only because i did not know about retarders so will now have a look and purchase 1.
it makes me feel good that members of the standard of you and jazz like my work and a great encouragement as well

thanks guys

Hi anstontyke, Very very nice work for first attempted. If I may make one suggestion, and it just may be the wash out of the light in the picture. And believe me I get this from fellow painter as well. Try a little more contrast. Please don't think I'm some master painter because, I'm not I'm so far from it. But its just what I see.

Hi and welcome.

This is really goid fir your first effort.
I know you don't mind us giving you tips for your next one.

When you are ready to begin, sstart with the eyea as you have here, and before you add the flesh tones, reshape the eyes alk round with a very dark brown.
Then, when you paint the flesh you will have an edge to paint up to and given the sculpture eyelashes and you will be delighted with the effect.

Please keep this one so that, as you improve you can see the difference , it's quite rewarding to do so.

Well done.

Paul

That's a very good start,it seems that you've got the basics, now you just need bench-hours and that means endless hours of creative fun.Doesn't sound that bad now.Does it?

Oda.

Hi Peedee,
I have started the wellington & blucher busts by MMM. I will post pictures when i am happy with them but it is slow progress at the moment because i am being very picky with myself.
