Led by Colonel Theodore Roosevelt, the 1st Volunteer Cavalry fought their way into the history books during the Spanish American War. They are probably most well known for their famous charge up San Juan Hill.

This is the second kit I ordered after hearing the positive comments from those who attended the recent MMSI show and were lucky enough to pick one up from The Lost Battalion booth.

I received this figure along with the WWI figure and was excited to see the immense amount of detail John has sculpted into the figure. The kit is comprised of 9 parts all cast in yellow resin with very light seam lines ( 5 minutes with an x-acto knife ). All parts dry fit tightly with no filling required.

The main part of the figure comes with arms and head detached and I promptly drilled into the heels and pegged the figure to a tempory base for photos.

The head is well detailed and the eyes clearly defined. The hat is a separate part and fits snuggly onto the head.

The arms were well sculpted with the hollow cup attached to the right hand. John has done an exceptional job in sculpting the figure’s hands.

Another plus with this kit is the detail to the rifle as shown below.

An exceptional kit for The Lost Battalion and my hat is off to John Long who did an wonderful job in the sculpting of this figure. A must have for anyone interested in this period or of American History itself.

John Long's sbs on creating this figure

Congratulations John. I'm sure you get that warm fuzzy feeling seeing your sculpture in kit form.LOL.~Gary
