Here's the photos of my 29th ID officer...I started doing some research on the figure, since the officers of the 116th Regiment are relatively well known and photographed. After going through the Center for Military History, I came to the conclusion that the person Mirage modeled this figure after was Capt. Taylor Fellars of Bedford Virginia. I contacted the family, sent a photo of the face, and the reply back was that it certainly looked like him. It's nice to be able to put a name to a face. Eventually, I plan on donating the model to the family...
The kit itself is nice...the resin is crisp and the details are sharp. The figure was painted entirely with Vallejo acrylics, my first attempt at acrylics instead of oils and enamels. The Combat Specialist Badge, and the insignia came from the local surplus store. The groundwork has some significance as well, I used actual sand from Omaha Beach. A friend of mine visited there recently, and asked what he could bring back...thinking I was going to ask for books or some other novelty from a local gift shop...instead, I got back 5 canisters of dirt, one from each beach. So...there's a handful of Omaha Beach mixed into the ground work. This is basically my 2nd figure ever...in hindsight, I probably should have waited and gotten a few under my belt before I tackled it, but I'm happy with the effort. Hope you like it. Jeff
