Just took delivery of this figure from Gordon at Mitches Military Models and thoroughly top bloke to deal with he is too.

The figure comes in a very sturdy black cardboard box and is well packaged with plenty of bubble wrap.

There are 16 parts altogether and I found the casting to be extremely crisp and good quality.

The torso comes with the head attached and shows him to be wearing a bandana, the cloth of which comes down over the rear of his neck and onto his Osprey body armour. the bandana can be painted a brown tone to break up the multicam pattern. The picture shows his face with some beard growth. There is also a prr (radio) and accompanying wires clipped to his body armour. There is an antena for the radio included. The picture show the elasticated retainers which secure the magazines in the pouches. There is also a single ear phone on his left side for use with the radio.

The legs show a leg holster for the pistol included which I think is a Sig but don't hold me to that.
Also seen is the Osprey armour groin protector or "Combat Nappy" as the troops call them to protect the vitals against I.E.D.'s.

Here you can see the detailing of the Lowa boots which are just superb along with the arms.
The figure is depicted wearing gloves so if you don't like painting hands..youre quids in.

This picture shows the main L129A1 weapon which comes in 5 parts including the main stock, magazine, Leupold sight, butt and muzzle. Again it is very clean and crisp.
The helmet is depicted having camo scrim on it and there is a seperate chin strap also.
Included is a spare pouch also and here you can see the side arm for attachment on the leg holster.

Conclusion: All in all, a very well presented and well cast figure. There is a high level of detail sculpted into the figure and I will post some WIP shots soon.

God damn it. I can't realy afford it but I'm just going to have to get one. Thanks for posting your review. The detail looks fantastic. Clasic Maurice.
I look forward to seeing your WIP. Are you going for Multicam? This may be of help to you http://www.specialopspaintball.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=149082 It covers the american multicam but should help with the breakdown of the basic patern to do the british version.

Hi Moosequito,
Yep he will be done in multi terrain pattern. Thanks for the post for the technique. I followed this on the Para below but it turned out more woodland. I think the mtp has a mainly green hue and when I attempt it again I'll use a light green basecoat and put down the tan as the fist colour. The pics of MTP on the net all look different, but now I have an actual mtp smock to hopefully make the painting more realistic.

Wow Gellso thats awesome. I certainly look forward to your WIP of this marine, if your Para is anything to go by we are in for a treat. I think the MTP looks good and I like the detail pattern on the shemag.
Keep us posted, good luck.

I have good reference photos of the gear he is wearing. Files to large to upload onto here. Will try again over the weekend

Managed to resize these photos. Hope they are of use, sure they will be. I will be watching your progress with interest

Thanks for the effort of posting these. I now have a set of MTP combats after seeing so many different tones and hues on the net. But I have to say the pictures of the combats on the grass are bang as close to the real colour that I've seen.
Cheers again,
Gells.

Not a problem. Give me a shout if there is anything else i may be able to help you with. The mtp has a definate pink tone over a very light green hue. Very effective against vegetation and when seen against brick buildings!! Body armour is a nylon material and has reflected the light a bit in the photos, should be of use though. If my memory is correct i counted 7 colours in the camo, with the pink looking like a sprayed colour, fading from light to heavy coverage. No black on this one, just very dark brown. Black is not a natural colour and shows up when viewed through infra red equipment

That vest is just what I need mate. I looked everywhere for pics of it. I love this camo too...unfortunately it's a pain to do. The pics of it in the "Stan" seem to have more of a green tint to it than than in real life. I don't know if it's to do with the brightness or the reflectiveness of the material. Excellent reference pics.

From a distance it does have a very strong green tint, almost lime green to be honest. Close up it is very complex and the pink hue is very evident. Remember in theatre uniform will be effected by washing, engrained dust/dirt, the sun. The photos are of brand new, hot out of stores, never worn gear, still as produced by the factory.
