Hello all.
Finishing this fella from Mitches and am wondering on the epaulette colour.
I have the pic reference from the reenactment group but I don't know for sure.
Any help would be brilliant.
Cheers from Cumbria and keep the brushes moving.
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan.
The epaulette would have been gilt/gold on a red( facing colour) background unless you are making him a Battalion Comp officer then it would be all Gilt/Gold.

This is taken from Carl Franklin's Book, You can see the epaulette shown for the light Co Something in the back of my mind seems to say that twards the end of the Napoleonic period epaulettes in a Silver Laced Regt would have also been silver, So you may need a bit more help from a Nap expert

Hi Mick,

I think that's a mistake in the picture. The buttons, lace and crossbelt plate are all silver but it shows a gold laced wing. I'll check my references when I get home.

Definitely a mistake in the colour plate. It would be very unusual to mix gold and silver lace on one uniform and the accompanying text clearly states that officers' lace and buttons were silver. Bottom left in the picture below is a Light Company officer of the 33rd with silver wings:

Hi Windy.
Yes I would tend to agree. I had another look through C F Book Towards the rear of the book there are two tables one pre 1810 where all the epaulettes are shown as gold, and the other post 1810 showing Silver laced Regts with Silver and Gold laced with Gold.
