WIP Critique 60th Regiment Grenadier

Hi folks, I’ve been working on this chap for a little while and I’m really not loving it at this point. Obviously the whole thing needs tidying up in lots of places plus more highlights and such. The face is ok but needs something, I’m not sure what. The uniform I’m pretty happy with and I’m going to add some umber to the leather knee caps to contrast with the canvas gaiters. I think I’ll use a dark ink on the axe haft.

Anyhow, any suggestions you have would be most welcome (as always). I’m hoping this is one of those ‘trust the process’ situations where I just need to push on. Apologies for the naff pics.

Interesting figure to paint , coming along nicely, I only do busts but if I may , I would push flesh more , try and blend the blue more then redefine the highs

This is a good period of history to choose

Thanks, I was thinking along similar lines. It’s a fascinating period, I re-enact the 60th (or did before my kids were born and I had free time) so I’ve got lots of kit to reference which is nice.
