Hello,
Here's my take on Mitches Military Models 95th Riflemen.
Painted in oils. I’ve not seen any painted examples of this sculpt yet.
It was a challenge for me as so much depends on those three faces.

Very nice work. The 95th is always a grea subject to work on.I do not know if it was intentional but I think I can see the stains left by biting off the cartridges which is a great touch of realism. Most of us (including myself) tend to overlook the fact that in the age of black powder, after half an hour in action most faces would be black from the smoke with darker stains near the lips from biting of the top of the paper cartridge,

Oda.

Hi Stuart

Good to see what you’ve been working on , a lot of action there and detailed painting nicely presented with well done basework

Like the addition of powder marks ...nice touch

Thanks for sharing

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Thanks Oda,
Yes you (and Nap) are right, the powder marks are intentional. Every contempoary account I've read mentions the black faces and thirst from the powder. It annoys me when I see figures or groups in an obvious battle setting, but looking a smart as on a parade ground. War is a dirty business. Mud, blood and black powder must have left indelible marks.

Cracking vignette, a lot going on there in a small space, what scale are they, I've never actually looked at Mitchs.

Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon,

They're 75mm figures. So the whole group only measures around 90mm square (or 3 1/2 inches in old money). Quite a small scale for me, I've done 120mm figures in the past and they're better for me. I've probably written off the 54mm figues of my youth as too small for me now!
