Still a few straps missing, and he needs a slightly longer saddle cloth and a lot of clean-up work to do, but I'm pretty pleased with him so far. And, oh, yeah, his horn, which will be made of sn unpainted African porcupine quill (they're huge and can be gently bent with heat). He's customized or converted, depending on which hobby you are, from this resin. http://www.equineresindirectory.com/images/resins/6843.jpg
So first step was to remove the mane and tail and use the Dremel to carve out the second ear. It was originally hidden in all that hair. I've done this before to several others, so now I have it down to a science. The only tool used is a separating disc, the large kind.
The rest is a mix of Magic Sculpt, styrene and buckles I wish were a touch larger. Bit rings are sterling silver (I make jewelry also and that's what was lying around in thin wire). Rubies are real rubies, although the lab-grown variety, 2mm size. Also lying around in my "why did I order this" box. He's eventually going to go with the Pegaso elf and some huskies from Scale 75 that will work as wolves. My first post on here. He also has a "shield" of leaves on his chest, with another ruby in the center. If I'm lucky, he will be shown in Chicago in July, in "Basic" of course.
