This is a little rest piece away from the trials of my ongoing Napoleonic encounter, stepped up a scale to give the eyes a rest.
I bought this on impulse at the first scale model show in Edinburgh ; didn't really like it when I got home but made a base and groundwork and then thought this might work.
He is sold as a Marauder and a bit fantasy inclined.
He comes with three arms or is it four  two heads three helmets some swords an axe and a spear, with a whole bunch of assorted arrows and various straps .

I would have preferred to use the Sutton Ho style helm but didn't want to cover the face as it is full of character .
I used the base that comes with it and added a fair bit extra rock to the wooden base I made and the plant root from the last landscape job I done .
The wood base is Yew and a splendid piece it was but just had to paint it black as it was detracting from the figure . Sacrilege

Lovely job Ron, I can't believe you painted Yew though might as well have used MDF
Steve

I painted it after the figure was on the base Steve , the wood was superb with all sorts purples and Yew-ish colours but was overpowering the figure

Very nice bit of painting.
I really like the shield and excellent groundwork.

Cheers,
Andrew

Very nicely done Ron (y)

I really like this model (sculpted by our very own Gary Higgins I believe) and this is one of the best painted depictions I've seen yet. Thanks for sharing mate, I'll need to remember and pop back for inspiration if/when I eventually get one (MDP always seem to be sold out by the time I get to them at shows :()

Thanx Billy.
It was a pleasure to paint and at first perhaps my eye was a bit far to critical as I was stepping up from several months of working on metal models , but once I got into it I began to like it a lot :) A bit like starting a book that takes time to grow on you .

I'm liking the groundwork every bit as much as the figure (which is superb by the way).

A lot of it is garden bark Steve , split into smaller sections glued in place then married together with ready mixed poly filler and magic sculpt , the tree is part of a shrub root I picked up on a garden construction we were doing, the guys think I am mad when they see me do this :)

Good morning Ron!Very nice!I painted this vikingboy last year, shortly after his appearence.A little bit tricky about his cloak, but one of the agile figures of the last years.Look left :D!

Cheers Tom W. The cloak is a bit tricky but no real hardships on this figure, you gotta just make sure you put the head on after the cloak :D

Congrats Ron on a really nicely balanced piece :) I hear what you are saying about yew, but given the subdued and subtle nature of the figure colours I can imagine the unpainted base shouting " Never mind that thing cluttering up my top look at meeeee"

Cheers
Paul

Exactly ! Cheers Paul I should have taken a pic of it unpainted to show the clash of the two . Having said that it took the paint very well considering it had been oiled

Ok....why is nobody pointing out the shield is upside down :whistle: ......Very nice job Mr T (y).....got this at Euro 2 years ago.....superbly engineered and cast :)....shame to have to paint the base though :(

Where I can get that figure????

And you painted a yew base black??? :nailbiting::woot::cry::facepalm: I fear we must talk about it in Ingolstadt :shifty:

Btw. Nice job :D
