I don't know how many of you regularly use soldering irons, but I'd guess there's a few of you.
This tale is for you, no matter how careful you are with them!
This morning, one of my colleagues knocked a hot soldering iron off his bench with an elbow and then, despite years of experience, attempted (successfully!) to catch it !!!
This guy is an experienced computer engineer and has probably used an iron averyday of his working life, but one momentary lapse, and he's got a nasty burn on the palm and fingers of his hand!
So, the moral is, sod the floor or carpet or whatever, if you drop a soldering iron, DO NOT TRY TO CATCH IT!!!!!
(I know most of you will think this is common sense - & it is, but sometimes instincts take over and you're scuppered!)

Cheers
Simon
