Hi y'all,
I'm painting a while in acrylic and now I want to paint a WW2 figure in a cold winter theme. Now what I'm wondering... What color of Vallejo should I use?
For the base I use 815 basic Skin Tone and to higlight 815+928 Light Flesh.
Now I don't know what I should use for the shadows. Normaly I use 814 Burnt Cad. Red. But that's too dark for the light flesh.

Anyone who got experience with painting a cold face?
A great thanks allready

Wesley

Wesley, You could either shade with some cooler colors like blues or grays, and add them to your usual flesh colors so they are not so bright. You may even want to mix in a gray or bluish gray to your flesh basecoat. Just a thought.~Gary

Wesley,

In addition to Gary's suggestion, the tip of the nose, earlobes and cheeks tend to get more red in the cold. I tried to incorporate this into a WW1 bust I'm painting now by working those areas with light glazes of dark red 946 after normal highlighting and shading. Too much blues and greys in your flesh mix might make him look like a corpse. Apply the red glazes very heavily diluted and build up the effect gradually until your satisfied. I hope this helps.

Hi Wesley,
On the cheeks you can ad some purple as well. This instead of the normal brown added color.
For the basic I use beige red, or basic skintone and added with some old rose to it.
