On the Reichstag building in the center of Berlin, the Soviet sergeant Mikhail Minin ...
and Sublieutenant Abdulchakim Ismailow...
... of the 150th Rifles Division of the Red Army hoisted the Soviet flag ...:
The soldiers of the 171st Rifle Division meanwhile approached Hitler's Reich Chancellery at around a hundred yards at noon.
At about 11:30 Hitler gets the news that a rescue in the last minute, so to speak, by the soldiers of the 12th Army of General Wenck or the 9th Army of General Busse is no longer possible!
The message is:
"12 Army is grounded - 9th Army included with mass." General Busses soldiers have gotten into the bloody cauldron of Halbe.
Now the "Leader" knows that he has lost his game!
Hitler is very well informed about the end of his buddy Mussolini, he is very afraid that he will face the same thing - execution, public presentation and desecration of his corpse.
But he is even more afraid of being captured alive by the Soviet soldiers and exhibited in Moscow "in a panopticon".
So there is only one way out: suicide!
His wife Eva (he married her the day before)...
...has declared that she wants to share his fate!
Around 12 o'clock he - together with his secretaries Traudl Junge, Gerda Christian and his wife Eva - has a last meal.
He is gregarious and eats little, speaks completely against his habit nothing - and retires with Eva Hitler at 15:00 clock in his private room in the bunker back.
Before that, he hired his personal adjutant, SS-Sturmbannführer Otto Günsche ...
... to burn his body beyond recognition.
Günsche occupies post outside the door of Hitler's room.
Shortly thereafter, a shot is heard in the Fiihrer bunker! Only one.
When Günsche enters the room, he realizes that Eva and Adolf Hitler are dead. After him comes Hitlers personal servant, SS Sturmbannführer Heinz Linge ...
... and "Reich Youth Leader" Artur Axmann ...
They realize:
Eva Hitler poisoned herself with cyanide by biting on a small glass vial.
Even Hitler took poison - and obviously at the same moment with his personal pistol, a "Walther" caliber 7.65 mm - here the orogonal weapon ...
... shot in the right temple.
Both are dead.
Later, the NKVD arrests Günsche, Linge, and Axmann and interrogates him for years at Butyrka Prison in Moscow on behalf of Stalin, since Stalin is almost obsessively interested in all the details of Hitler's life and death.
The statements of the three prisoners about the finding situation of the two corpses contradict each other!
Did they both sit on Hitler's sofa ...?
Or was Hitler sitting in a nearby chair?
The contradiction has never been clarified - and will probably never be clarified!
After the death of Hitler is officially established, Günsche and Linge carry the two bodies to the court of the Reich Chancellery - which is not without its dangers due to the constantly smashing Soviet grenades - and lay them down in a deep shell funnel ...:
Then empty Linge and Günsche several jerrycans, the Hitler's driver Erich Kempka ...
... from the still intact underground car park of the Reich Chancellery - took out the corpses and lit them.
The two can no longer observe the end of their work of destruction, the shelling forces them back into the bunker.
So ended the life of Adolf Hitler - but not the story about his dead body!
