I'm sorry that this is not miniature related, but I could not help but find something special about this story, not to mention the amazing kid it's about. what a special thing to see greatness come from what at least some would consider the least likely person.

Though a "feel good" type of story, it hits a little closer to home for me. I have a 3 year old nephew that was diagnosed with autism 2 weeks after his Father died unexpectedly last April. I hope one day he'll have a similiar event happen in his life.

Sometime the world is a good place. Check it out.~Gary

Hi Gary

That's some heartwarming story and one that is close to home for me. The company I work for supports vulnerable young people and adults and we have care of quite a few young folk like this lad. The things we take for granted can be insurmountable obstacles for them, and one of the significant inputs my company has, is to give these folk a sense of belonging and normality. Interestingly, sport plays a strong part in this, as does craft and hobby work.

When you compare this story to your thread about damaged monuments, it makes you realise that there is a lot of good out there, as well as some pretty vile stuff too. Unfortunately, it's the bulk of the latter type that makes media mileage.

Thanks for posting this. I've shown it to our MD.

Regards

Phil

Unfortunately we do live in a world where "the plane arrived safely" simply is not considered newsworthy, particularly in the newspaper media. The bad stuff just gets more press, that's all.....shame.
