Hey guys,

Can anyone recommend the best acrylic colours (Vallejo) for attacking a Luftwaffe WW2 uniform?

I'm painting a 1/32 scale Adolf Galand figure and want to capture the ideal "blue/grey" mix of his flight uniform, not officer uniform.

I have these in my current collection:
816 (Luft. Uniform ww2)
904 (Dark blue grey)
973 (Light Sea grey)
830 (Field Grey
886 (Green grey)
979 (Dark Green)
899 (Drk Prussian blue)
965 (Prussian blue)
901 (Pastel blue)
898 (Drk Sea blue)

...and Black and White.

Your advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers

My last work was 2 Luftwaffe soldiers !

Fot the color of the uniform, I'va used a mixt of 995 german grey and 912 Tan Yellow. I find it's a good one.

Brenton,

I'd have to concur with Laurent. In your current pallet, I'd use the following:

- Black + white to have the correct general greytone
- A touch of 965 Prussian Blue for that blueish tone
- + a small amount of Sand Yellow or Light Flesh to warm it up a bit

you can play with the "yellowish/brownish" colours according to the tone / atmosphere you want to translate :)

Hi Patrick/Laurent,

Many thanks for that. Looks like I can't go wrong really as it's a relatively easy one to capture.

I'll try and post some pictures showing WIP as I'm only just starting to take up arcylics (after many years as a Humbrol/oil man). I'll never throw away the Humbrol and oils, it's just that I like to experiment all the time with new a different options.

Cheers

Hi Brenton
I painted this one with 816,highlights adding Basic Skintone and shaded adding black, and I think it gives a nice Feldblue.
