I bought an unboxed ACW bust a few months ago-the buttons on the jacket are embossedwith the letter "A" can anyone give me an indication of the origins of the figure...could the A stand for Artillery? I know the letter "I" for infantry was used on ACW buttons.
Would be grateful for any help,

Keith

After posting this I found a site selling ACW buttons which confirmed this as a Confederate Artillery Bust....another question, would an Artillery bust be acceptable in Butternut? as I fancy using this colour, what colour would the Kepi be?

Yes, butternut would be fine. The kepi can be red, grey with red piping, grey, or butternut. It might help if you post either a pic or the manufacturer and title of the kit.

Thanks Matthew for the information-The Kepi I will do in Red with a Blue band and Black Peak. The Histoirie and Collections books only illustrate the Artillery in Blue or Grey so I appreciate your heads up on the Butternut. I assume that I can put the Red piping on the jacket?
Thanks again

If there is piping, then yes red. As far as the kepi, unless you are planning to depict this bust as a soldier from the Washington Artillery of New Orleans, I would stay away from a blue band.

Thanks again Matthew-I've now discovered that this is a Warriors Kit number 9034 Confederate Artilleryman sculpted by Tony Williams and Painted by Doug Cohen. It has been painted in Butternut on the box art.
Thanks for your help with this
Keith
