Hi friends!!

Finally I've finished this amazing piece from Romeo Models. In this time I only used acrylics. Comments and critiques are welcome!

Beautiful paintjob Alex, really nice version of this figure.

A couple of areas I think could be done differently to give a more consistent overall effect. To me it looks like there's too much contrast on areas of the yellow (much wider value range than on the white for example, which is immediately adjacent and can be compared directly). On the sections of drapery that are nearly vertical and only dish in slightly a much lighter value, as on similar areas on the pants, would 'read' better.

And on the rifle's forestock, the shading on each section between the brass bands is like they should be bulging outwards - as on the neck of the water bottle, which does bulge :)

Very nice painted version of this figure and I would be pleased with this result. I think Einion makes some very valid points about the final detail so this is something that can be worked on if you feel the need to. Still a super paint job and better than I could do.

I also have this figure which is cleaned up and ready to be primed at some point. I found a major weakness in the tassel that hangs from the left hand side, mine was very thin and broke as soon as I handled it,:( did you have this problem.

How did you paint the marble on the floor, its very nice?

Well done and I look forward to seeing more of you excellent work here on the forum(y)

Cheers
Tommi

Hi Alex, very nice piece. painting looks fine to me. Where the yellow is concerned it has a lot to do with which fabric you are trying to represent. For instance, silk reveals a much higher contrast in colour compared to cotton. Wool has very low contrast and leather is in the medium range. Overall, I like your interpretation very much.

Hi friends!!

Thanks for all your comments!!

@Einion: Too much thanks for your critique. It's a good opinon, really! But as @kagemusha said, it isn't a question of color theory or a "how to read" the color; it's about the fabrics to represent. Increasingly, in my works, I'm looking for the realism of the materials and aside other things. Of course, that's just my vision of the hobby in this moment and your theorical vision is 100% correct.

@Tommi: Yes, this part was broken and glued three times at least!!! aaag! Ths first time that it was broken was while I was cleaning the piece...
For the marble, it's very easy but the effect doesn't likes me. I need to find other way to paint marble. I used an almost white base and there is just to take a lot of colours very diluited that you wanna in the marble (like greys, blue-grey, ochre...) and draw with the paint the lines and give washes of colour. Finally you just need to apply barnish

Thanks for comment!

Yes, definitely. The shadowed areas in silk seem to drink in light and get decidedly darker than on another fabric that's the same basic colour, as well as being more saturated. Plus of course the highlights are concentrated by the reflectivity and are consequently lighter too.
