Hello guys, I have just finished this earlier. This was a great figure, well recommended. The figure depicted served about 10 miles from where I am sat... As always any questions etc. please do not hesitate.

As always, thank you guys for the kind comments. I had the presence of mind to photo the process of painting the shield.

I initially used decals on the shield, and it was a disaster zone, so I started again. That's why I gave up model planes!

I know it was a rush job, but it shows the thought process and may help somebody thinking of doing one. As always, any queries, please ask.

Cracking job on this, I reckon he'd be a bit chilly depending on the time of year. The shield is really good, better every time than a decal and interesting to see the stages you went through.

Cheers Simon

It is a cracker, without doubt. I read in the bumpf that comes with it that he was based in Carlisle, about ten miles from where I'm sitting right now!

Very nice job. It must have been hard painting the hoops around the standard.

He is based on Flavinus, a trooper of the Ala Augusta Gallorum Petriana bis torquata milliaria civium Romanorum ("The thousand-strong Gallic cavalry regiment of the revered Petrianus, Twice decorated, Roman Citizens."). They were evidently a very famous regiment as Roman historians could just drop the name and fully expect their readers to know who "the Petrian regiment" were.
