wwLadies and gentlemen of the Planet I present to you my Dioramas.
I hope you enjoy them.
The Crusader diorama - name - "God wills it"
I was driven by my childhood images of art, movies, classic illustrations - Crusades and more recently the wonderful " Kingdom of Heaven " . I have favorite images of moments in History as we all do; dramatic, colorful, odd, fascinating and so on. Images of the Alamo, the 300, the Teutonborg forest massacre, Invasion of Crete, Cortez against the Aztec and so on.
The ability to create dioramas that passed my inspection only came about when King and Country raised the bar sculpting, painting and poses, and I said now that’s a product I can work with! The rest was only difficult - Custom wall for the siege tower, rubble - ( Styrofoam, ceramic tile, real rocks , arrows and accessories hand made. Unfortunately you cannot bend the K & C metal- only cut away the bases, and enhance the paint jobs. Critical is the placement or interaction of figures, space relationship to the story and accessories. Mix in patience, some talent and research. Applying layer upon layer of detail and looking at it with a critical eye in natural light over and over again - Agony and Ecstasy all rolled into one!

French Napoleonic Infantry advancing on a farm house - Title " Enemy in the woods"
Again K & C drove me to see this scenario as a 3 dimensional painting. The roof is made of Halloween brooms from Michaels craft center. The ground work from by back yard. Accessories from 3 years of squirreling away of diorama ideas. Slight weathering of figures.

Germans dig in - WWII - Title - The Russians are coming!
Setting - Eastern front - A severe Ice storm has passed and the business of attack and defend can continue.
I used every available method of snow. Spray can, plastic bag, shake from a bottle etc. I wanted to show a resolve to hold this position, while the motorcycle engine dies, the officer listens for airplane engines
" theirs or ours ?" and men strain their eyes to see advancing white camouflaged forms coming towards them while the curse numbing cold.

They are all really great, I love the crusader one the best maybe because its my type of thing, so much time and effort gone into each one, I take it the figures are all 54mm

I believe the figures are 54mm.
I have seen these dioramas in the flesh, very impressive.

Good work Allen, and thanks for sharing.

Cheers

As life-long toy soldier collector and fellow K&C collector, it's good to see toy soldier dios being done again! Yours are well thought-out and very well executed. I enjoyed seeing a couple of these at past MFCAs. Thanks for the posting. Keep it up.

Very nice Dioramas

These are very nice. Allen should also try e-bay. There are collectors out there who would truly appreciate completed works of art such as these. Rgds Victor
