Alpine Miniatures, 1/16 GD Tanker

Hi guys,

here's a preview of the box art of Mike Good's masterpiece sculpted for Alpine Miniatures. He's cladded in a never existed leather Panzer jacket and a splinterless splinter pattern padded camo trousers and apprears to be playing with his booger for the moment. If the head looks large, it's definately the lens of my camera. Even my head looks large through it! Well, that's besides the point....Anyway enjoy...

Interesting painting technique. Is there a reason for the gloss black base coat?

Anyway, I am glad you are painting this guy. I am sure he will come out looking fabulous! Even with the booger............!

You will have to make your own... Hope you can capture
the subtle nuance in dried dusty booger from an old tanker.
FYI, this kit will feature a few different types of boogers, gents.
... to keep up with Alpine spirit!

I think you better duck as I suspect that's what the awards on his right arm justify!
Jokes aside, it's a great sculpt and it's very friendly to paint!
Can't wait to finish the trousers and hit the details on the Panzer jacket.
Also, no particular reason for the satin black undercoat, it's one of the problems I get sometimes when spraying Gunze Sanyo's lacquer-based Flat Black. Their flat paints are never quite matt as they suggest. But nontheless the Vallejo paints were still able to adhere very well to the satin surface. Are you still painting anything of late?

This has to be THE superlative depiction of a Wermacht tank soldier ever!
IMO Calvin Tan is possibly the best painter of modern combat figures today.
Any work by Mike Good transcends 'hobby' and enters the realms of art.
I look forward to painting my own rendition of this fantastic figure.

Hi guys,

thanks for the kind words despite this being sort of a rushed job. It's good news for me if the the model looks good for the camera.
Unfortunately, no progress was made over a busy weekend of family commitments. Nontheless, I managed to steal sometime off last night to complete the splinters on front of the padded trousers whilst my wife was happily glued to the TV set watching season 2 of Desprate Housewife and Grey's Anatomy back to back

I'm hoping to make more progress whilst she's watching the Korean soap drama Jewel in the Palace on TV for the rest of the week. (If only I could lay my hands on the whole series and I will be home free!!!!!)

Not mentioning that this is my third figure with the splinter pattern in a row, I dying to take a break to paint something with just a solid colour!

Military Green + English Unifrom + Rowney Blue (Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic Artists' Ink.) (Approx 5:3:1 ratio)
