4 resin parts

Le-Van Quang, of PiliPili Miniatures just released his newest in the "Special Series" of an American Fur Trapper from the year 1840. As many of you know I enjoy this period of time and waited anxiously for my copy to arrive.

Arriving in a smaller box than his other series of figures the figure was wrapped in bubble wrap and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag to ensure against loss of parts.

Above you see the four resin parts out of the box for inspection prior to photographing the bust for this review. The kit is comprised of a separate head that dry-fitted down into the neck cavity after removing a small mold block and also comes with an optional visor for the hat. A separate well detailed feather is also included to personalize the Trapper.

Above are several close-ups of the hat detail showing from the top view the leather cap worn under the fur. These caps were quite often worn under the animal fur top and had a visor or plain. Each individual Trapper would often customize his hat to his own taste by adding a Badger skull to the front.

Above you see the four sides to the bust showing the detail of the necklace and pipe most Trappers carried with them. The exceptional detail of the quill work as well as the fringe characterizes a typical American Mountain Man / Trapper's clothing.

Above top you see a close-up of the braided hair on the left side of the head with a glass bead tied in at the bottom of the braid. The bottom photograph shows a close-up of the heart shaped pipe holder the Trapper work around his neck.

The label on the box provides the painter a color guide for painting.

Each photograph above shows the two different versions using the cap visor or leaving it plain.

Conclusion:
An excellent kit depicting the American Maountain Man / Trapper. One of the best I have seen giving the painter several options within the kit. Highly recommended.

Note:

The kit is entirely cast in a light gray resin. Some of the lighting will show what it seems to be different colors. This is due to changing the camera position while keeping the lighting the same.

Thank you gents for the kind words.

And also a big kudo to Guy whose reviews are fast becoming one of the most popular features on pF. His photos are so crisp and unforgiving  that I'll have to think twice before submitting anything to him!
