Hmmm the pirate looks the part for another little update as a Maltese sea dog! though do not fancy guys that look they just came from a workout, but from my recent research on Corso brigants, these guys seems that they spent their lives on oars in the Mediterranean, many being ex-buonavoglia [Christian oarsmen] and surely they would have that kind of athletic look!

I await Historex to get stock so I can fill my sock for Christmas!

"Conan the scurvy ravaged pirate of Tortuga". Sorry, the subject dosn't fit the ripped body. He must have lots of time doing crunches on deck while his mates are hoisting this and that. Cool sculpt for a fantasy pirate....It's not even accurate for a hollyweird pirate!

I know this was an exercise in extreme anatomy sculpting for the creator, but I would rather paint a thin wirey pirate that we usually see in films, paintings and book illustrations.

I would disagree, the pirate looks pretty swarthy.
Not as bulk goes but as nearing 0% body fat goes, we all have that under our subcutaneous fat it just doesn't show..

The traps and delts are pretty pumped but i would reckon that would come from heavy lifting on a ship ;)

BTW, look at Iggy Pop he certanily isn't the poster boy of good health -

Iggy Pop is a rock n roll pirate Gordy. A bit like Keith Richards in Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't have a problem with the muscle definition, just the bulk and size of his muscles. He's definitely been working out.

The "hobbit" figure is disappointing. If they'd wanted to do a hobbit character from LOTR, similar to the "Aragorn - The Untamed" and "Legolas - Elf Archer" figures released a couple of years ago, they could have made it a bit moe accurate and realistic to the movie.

But not much as one thinks it takes to get to that definition, Tony. It is more of the reduction of fat than added mass. The definition and six pack is not impossible in modern manual labor or even light workouts!

The pirate's anatomy is really great. However he's a bit too ripped IMO. That could be easily solved by softening the musculature of the chest and stomach.

The little hobbit/ halfling is kinda neat. I do like all the different surface types there are to paint. ~Gary

Here you go,

some images of the figures painted.

This almost looks like too different figures. Given the ripped/cut front, the "pose down" stance, there should be much more definition in the back musculature. The back suggests a certain softness, as the body builder commentators might say, like he's "holding too much water."
