As it is 2015 I was expecting a deluge of Waterloo figures but, although Napoleonic figures haven't been lacking, mostof them, with the exception of the Commanders bust set, haven't really been Waterloo based.
Does anyone think this is a good opportunity to release some Dutch Belgian, or Prussian subjects?
How about the French or Prussian Corps commanders or old father Blucher on horseback smoking his pipe? A Brunswick Avant Garde Jager, Pruusian Uhlan or Belgian Cuirassier?
What do you think?

Couldnt resist, there are 7 Waterloo specific pieces here :) and the year isn't over yet
Sales drive new pieces though and the more obscure subjects are totally reliant on them.

Over 2 years in the making :)

I'm trying to think how we could do them all at such short notice david.

is this is a good opportunity to release some Dutch Belgian, or Prussian subjects?
How about...French or Prussian Corps commander ...Blucher on horseback smoking his pipe? Brunswick Avant Garde Jager, Prussian Uhlan or Belgian Cuirassier?

Yes to all plus prussian light dragoon,
brunswick uhlan,
nassauers,
the duchess of richmond,
and everyone else.
Let's have them all....
There's no such thing as too many napoleonics.
Vive la collection des maquettes m'sieur :D

Hi Graham
Yes I know there are a lot of Waterloo related models out there but the busts you refer to (and busts are not my thing - model wise that is:p) have been out for a while, and guess what? They are all British or French. The point I was trying to make was that the other nationalities involved in the battle are largely overlooked and if no one produces models of them this year they probably never will.
Of course I could scratch build but it will probably be 3015 before I get round to it (and I will only be a head in a cryo tank by then:ROFLMAO:).
The figures I and Peedee suggested are subjects rarely tapped into. A few companies have done the odd Jager or Prussian FreiKorps figure in 54mm but they are rarities in a sea of French Hussars, Curassiers, Scot's Greys and Highlanders etc.
Belgian Curassiers, Prussian Uhlans and Hussars are just as spectacular and although I understand manufacturers may be worried about poor sales I am sure these distinctive uniforms would attract the painters out there purely from a change of routine perspective.
If I asked for vignettes to be produced I would probably get another Sgt Ewart or "last stand of the Guard". I just think that a Dutch Belgian Gun team, French line lancer counter charging a Scot's Grey or a group of Prussian Infantry charging into Placenoit would make a refreshing change.
I have noted that the pre-paint market companies such as First Legion, Britains etc seem more willing to test the water in these subjects.
I may be alone in thinking this way.but I just wondered if anyone else was craving something different from what is being offered over and over again.

Sorry, misunderstood as I thought you meant there aren't many waterloo pieces out, the cuirassier isn't released yet though.

You might be right about sculpting some yourself as that would fill the gaps with the subjects you like as it's always a gamble when choosing new releases and if going away from the norm. That said I will be continuing the waterloo theme and have some less mainstream ideas, both busts and figures.

I sculpt for britains alongside CGS and really enjoyed sculpting the Brunswicks especially, and the 44th and foot guards.
We do those as sets to tell a story or group usually and collectors will usually buy all the pieces or multiples to complete the scene so they are a bit less of a gamble than one off pieces in this market.

Hi Graham
The new Cuirassier is certainly spectacular but I try not to venture too much beyond 120mm myself. I am one of those people who look at busts and say "where are the legs". I would be up to sculpting legs for the Cuirassier but then would be saying "where's the horse"! That is where it would end.
It did make me wonder though about the feasibility of someone like CGS producing an academy style 200mm horse! A head, body, leg sections and a selection of tails/manes would be very useful and help such conversion. I know this would be a commercial risk but a bare horse could be used for any number figures and could maybe produced only on a demand basis - I'm not easy to please am I?:ROFLMAO:
Signing off from cloud-cuckoo land.

Thanks John, I had forgotton your new Grenadier set - excellent stuff -still British though!
Not familiar with the Brunswickers -will check them out.
