I received this from David Duncan of the Civil War Trust a few weeks back. We needed to keep it under wraps for a time but I am now authorized to make it public.
"Regarding your gift, we are looking to get final board approval next week on the 43.5-acre easement at Kelly’s Ford, which I would anticipate getting with no problem. ..... it now looks as though – the way we have structured the deal – that your gift will be all we need to get the deal done. In other words, the APG will be the sole donor that saves this land."
The board has since approved the deal and we can now claim to be the sole donor in protecting this land. I won't go into all the specifics of how this is structured but it's possible because of the CWT's expertise in this area that we were able to make this happen.
We will be presenting the check, as part of the Sunday tour, on Sunday Aug 17, 2014 (time TBD) on this very property. It will be another milestone for the APG and I am in hopes that we can get as many APG members as possible to attend.
Thanks to David Duncan, the APG Board for it's approval, and, all those that made this happen.
