The show seemed to come off rather well, pending official word from those that ran and put the show together. I would have to say the highlight of the show was taking the 5th Alabama Battalion's flag back to within a 100 yards or so of where it was found underneath the body of an officer from the 1st Delaware Volunteers. It was a very moving moment and there were a few folks that did not have very dry eyes. Another moment of note were Shep Paine's closing remarks reflecting on the weekend's activities and their unique importance. Here are a few pictures from the ceremony that took place at "the angle" on Saturday. As for awards, there were only medal and certificate awards, no "Master" or "Best of Show" awards. If there had been a BOS Dave Brown's (hope I got the name right) Lincoln Monument would have been worthy of the honor. The show's purpose was much higher than any award that could have been given. The flag ceremony and Shep's words were proof of that. I suppose no one has video on it? If not too bad, Shep knocked it out of the park. ~Gary

Freakin' awesome. This (restoring the color) is a significant historical event and was obviously treated as such. Iron Mike, John Jefferies and all those who brought everyone together to accomplish it need to be thanked big. Thanks for posting, Gary.

Here's the Lincoln Monument box diorama. A not so great picture of a great piece. ~Gary

I wish I could have been there. I was at Gettysburg over 40 years ago and it seemed to me to be a very haunted, melancholy place. I'm sure a lot of throats were tight and eyes were moist when the flag of the 5th Alabama was brought out to the field where it was found.

I'm glad the show turned out so well; the box diorama of the Lincoln Monument under construction is amazing! I would love to see more photos of it and the entries.

Thanks for posting, Gary
