Hi Vladi,

this is now my favourite Figure from Bravo 6. It´s absolut great in all. Perfect addition from the real Picture. The Detail of the face is awsome. Ít´s also great you give him an british rucksack of that time. I´t a liite detail but important and a nice alternation. The combination of this well armend SAS guy with the smile on his face and the motherf... finger on the left hand is funny and great. You could take an VC as Prisoner and than this Figure in front of him. What a Vignette would this be -laugh-. It´s a medal winner. I know the real Photo of this guy in that great ANZAC book from Osprey and you get the right feel of the scene.
I´m only waiting till my Online shop will sell them. Hope Franck from Sockelshop order them fast. That will be a big Shopping Tour for me when i order your great VC Figures and the SAS guy(´s) next time ;-).

Stunning work and wait for the next down under guy´s :).

Greetings

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

I think you'll find the rucksack is probably an ARVN (South Vietnamese Army) pack with British Bren Gun pouches on the side, which was favoured by Australian SAS on patrols.

Thanks Stefan!
Yes,you`re right,I inspired by that photo from Osprey.
Idea with VC priconer is indeed great,I even do n`t thought about it:)
I discover this little intrigue-now I`m making next 2 SAS figures (will be as two-fig set) and all 3 figures can be used in one small vignette about "short conversation" among Aussies, preparing for patrol:)

P.S> VC figures are ready in resin now,I need paint them for box art.
Middle of June will be available

Tony, please, have you info (photos or drawings) of such rucksack? it`s very interesting and I`d like to sculpt it for next figure.
For this machine gunner iI took Bergen rucksack, like in Kevin Lyles art in Osprey book.

Hi Vladi,

I've found a couple of pics of ARVN backpacks for you. It is certainly possible that SAS troopers on patrol in Vietnam would wear a wide variety of webbing, including British, US, Australian and Vietnamese made packs. The Osprey book "Vietnam ANZAC's"has some excellent colour illustrations showing the ARVN backpack and the exotic items of equiptment worn by Aussie SAS.

Hopefully Chrisr will read this and bring his first-hand knowledge of the subject to our attention.

Great stuff, I just love seeing non-US modern stuff... especially from such a talented sculptor. Can't wait to see the other SAS guys you have in the works.

Cheers mate,
Mario

A lovely figure, one that I be buying from Kirtles as soon as he has it in stock. This will be very popular. Look forward to seeing your other Aussies soon, any excuse to use Kevin Lyles brilliant artwork in Osprey Elites Vietnam Anzacs.

Cheers
Dennis

Hi Tony,

that is Interesting with the ARVN pack and the Ammo Pouches on the sides. Great Idea. So i could create my own. I have the one in the old Dragon set and some Pouches from spare parts. I will try it out. PS: Your SAS Figure in big scale is awsome. Great Painting job and very good pictures. It´s one of my favourites here. I love this Osprey book. I took it for my converting.

@ Valdi,

sounds very good with the others. I´ts a great Idea with that little Vignette. Perhaps the soldier on page 51 in that Osprey book would be a great addition. You could take him for Communicate with the others or as Stand alone Vignette. It´would also be a great Figure for a Patrol. My favourites are the two on Plate F and G. Both on left site.

Greetings from Berlin

Stefan

Thanks,guys!

Really,ARVN rucksack with additional BREN pouches looks very interesting
Finally rucksack must have 4 pockets? (2 own and 2 additional)...I see photos of ARVN rucksack and see photos of BREN pouche...It`s so large! Where is the empty place on rucksack for install them?))))

Indeed Kevin Lyles` artworks is awesome.I`d like to honestly say, that before this Osprey book theme of ANZAC in Vietnam was just "unknown zone" for me.
Those drawings inspired me to start to learn and get interest for it.Fantastic job! When I see those color plates my hands want to sculpt it!:)

Great Figure

Another great figure. This will be another one that I will have to purchase. Your figures are well worth purchasing. Keep up the great work.

Hi Vladi,

i know for sure they use Land Rover short and long wheelbase. Also M520 Goer Truck, Cargo, 8-ton, 4x4 . I think it´s not imposible that they use the Mule because of it´s versatile function as ammunition-, personal carrier and you could use a 106 mm recoilless rifle with missiles mounted on it. I don´t know any Photo of it in use by the ANZAC. Take a look on this site. It´s from an German Reenactment site but the Photos are great and for Details Perfect. http://lebendigegeschichte.phpbb.ch/ptopic1386.html&sid=55fe242e1507709506ce502bc3ae3814

Demchenko,
1st, thanks for sculpting an ANZAC other WW1 or WW2, great to see.

2nd, nice to see you sculpt this kind of figure

3rd, I don't think the ANZAC's in Vietnam used the Mule, officially, all though I wouldn't rule it out.
Helpful links (unless some of the others who served as ANZAC's clarify earlier)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Military_M274_Truck,_Platform,_Utility_1/2_Ton,_4X4

May have to search or ask direct, I usually associate the Mule with the Marine Corp, for some reason.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi Vladi,

I don't think the Mechanical Mule was used by Australian forces in Vietnam. It is possible they could have been used as part of joint logistics operations with US forces but not on their own.
