A lot going on since I was last here a week ago, I'll catch up with PM's tomorrow.
Spent a very happy week eating and drinking in and around Kloster Andechs.
Sampled all their beer including some served directly from the wooden barrels, all were excellent and a couple were world class. Favourite for me was Dopplebock Dunkle and Bergbock Hell.
It was a tough gig but somebody had to do it (y)

O wenn i bloss einen Nachmittag auf dem Heiligen Berg verbringen derfat!

Best double bock in the world! And I have a keg from the cloister, too. I "acquired" it on Holy Saturday, 1985. We rode down form Munich with S-Bahn, hiked up the hill and spent the day in the hall, 8 hours. I drank 4 liters of that wonderful, wonderful beer. And when the monks kicked us out to close the place, on the way out the courtyard, I noticed the door to the kitchen open. There were kegs sitting there, to be run through a steam cleaner. I reached in, grabbed one, and off we went. Twice I dropped it from the hiking path into the stream, but I managed to scramble down and retrieve it, pushing it back up the slope to the path and into the waiting hands of my buddies. They were as drunk as I was, and twice let it fall back on my head. But I got it back to Herrsching and into the S-Bahn. In my Kniebundhosen and heavy sweater, I had passengers asking me if I "beim Bund" and it was a prank while I was mustering out. I got the keg back to Munich, and I rolled it back to my apartment in the Agnesstrasse. Eventually, I packed it up and shipped it home, and I still have it today. I've been saving it for the centerpiece of my bar, when I finally finish remodeling the basement.

I often wonder if I should write to the Herr Vater Abt and confess...
