Hi Folks

This is my latest piece that I have been working on the past few weeks when I have had a chance. He is depicted as Balian of Ibelin from the Third Crusade. I liked and wanted this kit as soon as I saw it. 90mm Crusader Knight from Pegaso models.

I stopped everything else I was doing to make a start on this. The kit itself was a real pain to assemble and some of the larger parts were slightly distorted and I had to carve small portions away and re-sculpt them to get an exact fit, not the sort of thing you would expecting to do with a nearly £100 Pegaso Kit!

Anyway, managed to get it finished today avoiding knocking off the sword and arrows in the shield several times but came close. Just waiting for the name plate now and its all finished.

All painted in oils over the top of acrylics as usual.

The last picture of the face is slightly grainy as I have blown it up 4x higher than the maximum resolution of the image to get a closer look at the eyes, of course you could never see it that large with the naked eye at a show.;)

All comments good or bad most welcome.:)

Right back to what I was doing before! Samurai.:)

Cheers

Real quality job Tommi. Can't fault it. Love the colour scheme you've chosen for the surcoat as well.

Oh Wow, Tommi. . . this is just beautiful. There is so much tension and
drama in the setting, the pose, etc. And the painting of everything is just
superb . . . as one Planeteer said, I can find no fault with it. Wow, super
work. . .

Congratulations. . . the work on the torn fabric of the shield is of particular
note plus the way you have rendered the blue eyes. The look of tension in
the eyes. I think that is not easy to do, and you have really done it. To
quote Professor Higgins. "By George, I think he's got it. . . "

Right on, mate.

Very Nice Tommi! This is a striking figure and one that we are surely going to see in many variations over the coming months. The pose is dramatic and the subject is generic enough to be painted in a variety of versions. I myself like the mail covered head the best but both are very nice. Again, Great Job Tommi.

Hello Tommi
I love the whole total.
Painting the face is very good creating a tension that is needed in a battle and has generally done a good job! (y)
But I think the hero-enacting was not France but Englishman blacksmith and fleur de lis I do not think how it goes.:thumb down:
However good work buddy!(y)
