A Fixture
This is a 1/9 scale bust of a United States Baltimore Guard 1861, sculpted in milliput/magisculpt & super sculpey, the head came out of my spares box & I'm not sure what kit it belonged to, it's bit of an unusual subject for me as I don't normally sculpt parade square uniformed figures but this did start off life as a Crimean Grenadier Guard 1854, then I thought what the hell there's loads of them been done so lets do something different, but along similar lines, his uniform colour is: Black bearskin with gold front tassel, Dark Blue/Black tunic with light blue collar facings with a gold trim, light blue epaulettes with a gold crescent & light blue fringe, the cartridge belt will be black, all buttons being gold, rank markings would be "I believe" Light blue with possibly a gold trim, as I said a Guardsman with a difference.
This Regiment was used to stop rioting in Baltimore during the early part of The American civil war when Maryland was split between the Union & the confederacy, it was said that the Baltimore Guard were seen marching through the streets of Baltimore wearing bearskins taller then a Grenadiers & wearing their full dress uniform as described.
Cheers
