Hey Guys,

Here is one other figure that I did last year. It is among one of my favorites. I had this kit many years ago and never quite finished it so it went to the big waste basket in the sky! I decided to try it again and here is what I did. I was inspired after seeing Latorre's in the magazine.

Joe-

Another Good one. Is this Andrea?

The black looks good to me. I like the shadow and highlights on the derby!
BTW, what WAS your mix for black  ?

I liked Latorre's version real well too. You've done a great job on yours too Joe. I think I've seen this one in the round, haven't I?

Thanks guys. I paint my black by mixing different shades of browns into the black.

The colors I use the most are raw umber and beige brown. By doing this I can add more of the browns for highlights and more of the black for shadows until just pure black is used. I try to make it more of a grey shade and this way when you add the black it kind of looks like black. I hope this makes some sense. :)

John,

You probably remember seeing it in Atlanta, Tulsa and Chicago! He is worn out from all his travels!

Hi Joe,

Superb painting, especially on the blacks, which isn't the easiest of things to do. Congratulations on a superb figure.

Greetz,

Great job Joe. Iv'e always been a fan of Westeren figures ( I even "almost" bought this figure once, I will now ;) ) and after looking at yours, I'm mightily impressed. I never saw Latorre's version and honestly, I don't need to. Your work is inspiring enough. Maybe it's time to break out a cowboy for a little break in the routine.

Thanks, Jim

Joe, I could follow the lead of others and tell you how great of a paintjob you've done (which you really have done ;) ) but that won't help us learn. So tell us: how did you go about painting the black clothing? It looks superb.

Thanks in advance, amigo!
