“Iris” and “The Dancing Girl” is a kickstarter campaign for resin copies, not STL files, of two magnificent anatomical sculptures by José Péricles.
They will be published in 54 and 90mm scales.
“The Dancing Girl” was first published in 35, 75 and 120mm scales 3 years ago.
After this campaign they will not be published at all.

Those are truly beautiful studies, I think 54mm may be too small to really do them justice though.

To try and pull off a realistic painting of a naked girl in the larger scales will indeed be a real challenge, almost certainly beyond the abilities of all but a select few painters. I know for sure they are far beyond my abilities, much though I like the girl on the sofa.

I do seem remember my mother telling me that in her Catholic College art the class, back in the mid-50's, the doors would be locked immediately at the start of class. If you were late you missed the class. Why?? To keep the nuns from entering the classroom while the nude subject at the front of the class was fully undressesd, the subject of the days oil-on-canvas lesson.

Nude subjects are not my style, but the study of the body is not a crime if done tastefully and without pushing towards soft porn, IMHO. The second figure is more towards what I would consider acceptable, not the gal on the bed.

The scribble censorship is a bit much, why not just mark the thread as not safe for work?
Considering there is a whole new forum here about making the hobby more "artistic" censoring this thread is daft. These are probably the most "artistic" new releases shown on here since the Attica "Madame X" model.

I thought we were all adults here, don't like something, fine, just move on, no need for pathetic snide remarks.

Very nice sculpts, prefer the larger scale. But both are very good indeed. I think you do have to have good skills to paint that amount of skin tones. But hey They look good I prefer the standing model more artistic . But that’s just me, end if the day like them it’s original art and why not . We have Greek warriors with every thing on show semi naked Celts so why not. Art is art. Like Rob says if you want Miniatures to be one an art form then this kind of sculpting has to be acceptable. Hey stick a warning on it what ever you don’t have to look at the end of the day.

Hey look at a lot of fantasy figures , they come close to what you see here. Some in chains , leather , all sorts it just a piece of art end off. Well it is to me and I’m sure others feel the same way too. But hey you can’t please everyone. I for one don’t mind I think it’s art and if you enjoy it keep going.

I get the “art is art” counter-arguments. And of course it isn’t a crime (no-one’s saying it is). I just think that the hobby is already perceived by many outside it as being one for basement-dwelling sad-lads & incels, and stuff like this does nothing to dispel that myth.

I have admired both the sculpt and Arnau’s painting of the Dancer since it appeared on Putty and Paint quite a while ago. It would be great to see these figures released. There is a huge difference between these miniatures and some other stuff with exaggerated body parts that periodically appears here.

Tacky? I've seen much worse on this site. As has already been said these poses just reflect the average Art life drawing class.
But if it's not your thing, why not take the opportunity to clothe these ladies in a uniform of your choice? Two ATS girls taking a break - one having a lie down and the other having a migraine attack.;)

Beautiful sculpts leading to challenging paint work. Talking of challenging, if there is indeed a trend of men/women painting minis of any kind being labelled Incels or basement dwelling mouth breathers who only paint nude figures then we really need to challenge that. AFAICS, there are a ton of superb male and female mini painters broadcasting across youtube and twitch etc. These people have big audiences and I have never seen those labels being applied. I will paint anything that takes my fancy as long as it is legal and does not racially or sexually abuse anyone. If I "offend" someone, too bad! :) Its just figure painting after all.

We absolutely do, yes.

You won't have done, because those "big audiences" are people in the hobby, same as us. What I can say is that over the years I've been on the business end of snide comments, "jokes" and laughter when I've told people what I enjoy doing for a hobby. Maybe it's because I dabble in armour & aircraft as well, and it's not so much about the figures aspect - I don't know. But I have spoken to guys who've had similar experiences.

If I "offend" someone, too bad! :) Its just figure painting after all.

I know there are people within the hobby who get tetchy about Waffen SS subjects, and since 2022 I've seen comments on here and elsewhere online from guys saying they'll never paint another Russian subject again or buy anything made by a Russian company. But personally I've never been "offended" by anything that anyone's painted. I've rolled my eyes a few times though.

Hey Steve, I guess it depends on the person. Personally never had any issue with telling friends what one of my hobbies is but workplace colleagues, I tend not to talk too much about my personal life. I am a serious (SERIOUS!!!) :D Mountain biker which is a pretty "normalised" pass time but I did have a previous work colleague who could not get over the fact that a 30 year old guy would spend so much on bikes etc. People can be total dxxks sometimes. Their problem, not mine.

Re the SS stuff.......I have no love or interest in the subject but as long as its not some kind of defence or glorification of that "group", I don't mind seeing it represented in miniature form. I despise Nazi's in whatever form but we have to draw a line somewhere I guess.
