Beneito:Storming of Badajoz 1812
Box art and sculpted by José Hidalgo.
White metal and resin parts. 54mm scale.
This is the latest release from Beneito Miniatures. A scene made up of three figures relating to the storming and siege of Badajoz 1812.
The siege was one of the bloodiest in the Napoleonic Wars and was considered a costly victory by the British, with some 3,000 Allied soldiers killed in a few short hours of intense fighting as the siege drew to an end, and as many as 4,000 allied Spanish civilians, including many women and children, massacred by the allied troops after the battle.
The parts of the kit come well protected in a sturdy box with all parts for each figure in individual zip lock bags. There is some nice box art images to use as a painting reference. The kit is made up of white metal and light yellow resin cast parts. A close inspection of the parts shows the usual good quality of casing and detail.
We can see a close up of the parts that make up the canon, all parts are cast in white metal.
There are three resin pieces that make up the base, we can see the assembled parts and also the location of the canon.
All three figures are well cast with only a minimal of mould lines to remove. Each of the main torsos have a corresponding bag of white metal parts which again on close inspection show good casting and detail.
A test fitting of the wounded figure shows how well it locks into the resin base. We can see the three heads included in the kit and the facial detail as well as the sculpted hat insignia.
Conclusion:
Another nice release from Beneito with some figures with dynamic poses that go together very well to set the scene. Test fitting of the parts is good and show a good level of detail and clean casting with a minimal of clenup. Having the canon is an added bonus to the model maker. Highly recommended to anyone interested in this period of history.
The kit is available as one package or the two foot figures can be purchased as separate figures.
