This is one of the first new figures that I have been sent from Benito miniatures, Drummer boy of the 77th Reg on foot, Peninsular Campaign 1811.
The kit comes in a outer cardboard box sleeve with some very nice artwork which can be used as a painting guide. The inner box containing the parts has a folded layer of foam which helps protect the parts during transport; there is also an instruction sheet with painting guide.
The kit is made up from six white metal parts which includes a two part base.
Here we can see the one piece casting and a good level of detail sculpted into the figure. The casting seam lines are very minimal and cleanup is pretty straight forward.
The base fits together very nicely and the feet of the figure make a good fit to the base.
Other parts of the kit are the sword, drum and drum sticks, all showing a high level of detail with minimal cleanup of the parts.
The sword locates nicely into the recess at the bottom of the belt.
The drum stick drop into a small cavity at the back of the folded arms of the figure, a very good fit.
The drum is located on the main figure with the protruding pin on the side which fits into the hole on the left side of the figure, test fitting is very good.
Here we can see the fully assembled figure. This is the first of a few new releases form this long time established company. Nice little figure for anyone interested in this period of history. Minimal cleanup and easy assembly, clean casting and high level of detail. Highly recommended.
