Hello friends. Waiting for some new pegaso figures i started this wonderful bust from Young. The face is done and, well thats about it. The buffalo hide gave me a headache and its now on the third painting attemp. Still dont know what to do with it, so any suggestion whould be helpful. The fur is obviously basecoated only. Thanks for checking.

Artur my friend thank you for your comment. Tony thank you for your kind words. Serkan tha basic mix for the flesh is consisted of raw sienna, burnt sienna, a bit of red and napples yellow hue. After completing shadows and highlights i used various films on different areas adding red violet, orange, pthalo green and pthalo blue to the mix. Alexandre i m glad you like it.( Βασικα ελεγα να κανω ενα διαλλειμα απο τα μπουστα γιατι προτιμω τισ φιγουρες αλλα δεν ειχα κατι καινουριο και ειπα να ξεκινησω αυτο σαν εξασκηση για τον ινδιανο της pegaso που περιμενω απο μερα σε μερα)

Dimitrios, this flesh is one the best, excellent job. Thanks for shared the palete.

Regards.

Dimitros

I must "Thank you" for the palette too, because I find it a really good flesh tone for indians

And I think your buffalo hide colour is good. I would make it a little bit "worn"with different brown and ochre colours and paint some figures on it. I often stick my finger in the colours and (like dry brushing with a brush) get over the figure. If you make it with several colours you get an nice "worn" effect

That is only an idea for the hide

Carl, Rodrigo, Ulrich, Marc thank you for your comments. Ulrich painting figures on the hide is my last hope but i ll give your technique a try first. Thank you for your suggestion.
Regards.

Hi Dimitrios,
a schocking good :)eek:(y)) flesh tones on this beautiful bust.

as to the raw hide, I would personaly try some washes with earthy tones (indian red, burnt sienna, burnt umber, golden ochre) and more highlights with naples yellow (with a gentle touch of white on the most worn places or on the edges, where the fur beginns). Adding some indian painting will also help it with the final result. I am sure, this will be the best version of this bust for a very long time when you finish it.

best regards to sunny Greece,

R.L.

Robert my friend thank you for the suggestion. Will do that. My only problem is that the hide has some very subtle sculpted cracks on it and i cant seem to make them stand out with washes. Seems i will rely in heavily decorating it!!! Pedro thank you for your comment.
