Hi All!
Saturday 26th April is the date for the 2014 British Model Soldier Society’s Annual Show. It is open to all and is being held at the Holiday Inn hotel in Coram Street, London WC1N 1HT, nearest underground stations Russell Square and Euston, with mainline Kings Cross nearby. Admission is from 10.30 (BMSS members 10am) and, with tickets priced at just £5 (accompanied children free), the show will not only feature displays by BMSS Branches from around the country but will also be supported by a variety of traders, selling old and new toy soldiers, model figures and accessories. The varied open competitions include classes for single figures, vignettes, groups, busts, toy soldiers, dioramas and armoured vehicles, together with non-military and junior classes. For youngsters and anyone else who would like to learn how to paint figures, there is a ‘Make ‘n’ Take’ table, with guidance from experienced modellers. Further details can be had by emailing [email protected] or call 01895 832757.
Special Class to commemorate Great War
To mark the start of the Centenary of the Great War (in which many of the Society's early members served), the BMSS Annual Show will have a Special Class for models specifically relating to the Great War 1914-18. The Class will be open to all, member or non member, and will be for single figures (foot or mounted) or groups depicted on active service. Any combatant nation is allowed. Groundwork and vehicles may be included, but all entries must include at least one figure (any scale, busts are acceptable).
The winner will be announced on the day and will receive a special cup which he or she will retain. The winner will also receive Tommy’s War superb model "‘L’ Battery RHA and the action at Néry, 1st September 1914" and further prizes for entries judged second and third generously donated by Tommy's War.
