Bonapartes Cavalier Bust - Advice Needed

Hi,
Have just put my order in for one of these stunners and I'm looking for some advice with painting him. I've searched the internet for some decent pictures but not a lot turns up and when they do they are often of a poor quality. Has anybody painted one of these? Could anyone recommend any colour schemes? Any good reference material available?
Looks like an English Cavalier Royalist from the English Civil War.
